Gosh Nail Care High Shine Top Coat review

I bought this a few days ago and I really love this product! :)

I decided to use it on my nails without any nail varnish and this is the result -->

My nails look so shiny, pity my camera couldn't pick it up very well (this was taken on my phone, so it's not very high quality).

The reason I decided to use it on my nails without any nail polish is because I love the "shiny nails" effect I get from my nail buffer block, but it takes a long time to shine your nails properly with that, and since I'm always busy with school and stuff I never really have time to do it. But using this product, my nails are as shiny as glass! I love it!

Another reason I decided to use this, is because I'm very sporty, and my nails chip easily while I'm playing.... so I'm hoping this will give my nails a bit more strength. The only downside to this product would be that it takes slightly longer to dry than nail polish does, but it's okay, because it's worth it!

Hope you enjoyed my review, and if you've ever tried out Gosh's Nail Care range, leave a comment below, I'd love to hear what you thought of the products. :)

November Faves :D

It's not too late to do a November faves post, is it? haha

Well, anyway, here are my favourite things for the month:

Tea Tree Cleanser and Toner

This is something I had forgotten about for a while, but I bought it again and now I'm not sure why I replaced it! It's probably one of the best cleansers/toners I've ever tried and it's pretty cheap too. You can get it at Superdrug for under £2.99.

MUA nail polish

Another Superdrug product :) For those of you who don't know,
Superdrug have their own makeup line called "MUA" (which stands for "Make Up Academy). All the products cost £1, so it's a bit like ELF, except it's in actual stores around the UK (sorry, I don't think it's available in the US, but I might be wrong!) I've done a post about MUA before, so if you are interested, feel free to have a look at that. The nail polish which I've been loving this month, is their "Shade 10" nail polish, which is a sort of silver with a hint of rosy pink in it... it's really pretty and the coulour is very true to the picture shown.

Sports Direct

I've been on the lookout for a warm, cosy hoody for the winter, and I found tons of really nice hoodies in Sports Direct. They are currently having a huge sale and most items are about 50-70% off - which is an amazing deal! And I was so happy when I heard about it and I went to check out what they had. I bought the hoody pictured for only about £20 (it had been reduced from £50). I LOVE this hoody, it's really warm and such a pretty colour.

Only One Flo, part 1

I am in love with Flo Rida's new album! I love every song on it (especially "Turn Around" and "Who Dat Girl") Definitely worth checking out!

Like a G6

My favourite song this month is "Like a G6" by Far East Movement. It's such a catchy tune! Love it! The rest of Far East Movement's album (Free Wired) is really good too and narrowly missed out on being my favourite album of the month. My other favourite song from their album is "Rocketeer" - it's so sweet! :)

"Inception" on DVD/Blu-ray

I LOVED this movie so much when I saw it at the cinema and I can't wait to get it on DVD. Also, for anyone who didn't get a chance to see this amazing movie, you can now! :) (This is more of a "wishlist" thing, but I thought I'd put it in this list anyway =P )

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, Part 1

I went to see this at the cinema recently, and I must say, I would highly recommend it, it's a very good movie!

So that's it! My November favourites. :D Hope you enjoyed this, and stay tuned for more :)

Also, just a quick side note; none of these stores or companies etc. listed are paying me to advertise for them.

Long time no see!

It's been absolute AGES since my last post, and I do apologise. Truth is, I really don't know what to write about... this Blogger stuff is harder than I thought it would be. I'm a very lazy person and I had decided to start blogging as a way of passing the time in the summer... and it was fun for a while, but when I went back to school, I had less and less time to research my topics and to do anything really, and Blogger kinda got left out..... a bit like YouTube - I can't remember the last time I posted something on that channel. =( Hopefully that will change as I try to manage my time better!

But anyway....

I'm hoping to do a few reviews this week + talk about the latest TV show news - who's gonna win X-Factor 2010? Did Stacey deserve to win I'm A Celeb (I say yes; what do you think? Opinions in the comments =])

Also.....

I'll be doing a review for a few face products, including Biore Pore Unclogging Scrub and a few Tea Tree and Witch products. So stay tuned! =)

"November Faves" post coming up sometime this week =D

Study Tips

We only started school a few months ago, and I've already had a bunch of tests - including spelling tests in French and German, and tests on physics and chemistry o_O

Below are some of the things I do when I'm trying to revise. Please leave a comment below telling me some of the ways in which you revise, and hopefully your comments will help others too =) Let's all try to do well in our exams this year! =D

  • Log off Facebook, YouTube, Twitter etc... Yes, I'm addicted =P but also easily distracted, so I try to ignore social networking sites when revising
  • Drink water/juice - I found Lucozade Lite in "Summer Berries" helped a lot because it's so refreshing
  • Keep the room quiet - normally I like having music playing, but I get distracted (and start to sing along) when my favourite song comes on :L
  • Keep the room well lit - makes me feel less tired
  • Oddly enough, I like to study at night - I concentrate better then =)
  • Read over my notes/textbook and write out my own set of notes summarizing the material - writing helps me a lot as it helps me memorise; "reading it over" just doesn't work for me because I lose interest and remember less
  • Do bits of revision every night and a summary the night before the test - don't make the mistake of cramming it all into one night, it's a really bad habit! (Guilty! I do this a lot) =(
  • Use past papers to help you revise

Well, that's basically it =) Hope this helped anyone who has tests coming up or was looking for tips. By the way, just because these methods help me, doesn't mean they will help everyone else - we all learn in different ways, and you need to know which way works best for you =)

Here are some of the things which I'm hoping to get sometime soon...

My Top 10 Pet Peeves With Makeup

Here's a quick list of things which annoy me about makeup/the way people wear makeup. They are in no particular order, and please don't get offended - this is just my opinion. =)

1. Cute packaging, but horrible product =( This happens a lot actually.

2. The dreaded "cake face" - I really hate it when people do this, it's not attractive at all and looks really messy.

3. Eyeliner that only lines half the eye or extends way past the corner of the eye - sorry, but I think this looks kinda tacky

4. When lipgloss is really sticky and thick =( it feels so horrible when you wear it

5. Products which smell bad or have an overpowering smell - especially when you wear it on your face; it feels like it's choking you

6. When people wear lipstick that is lighter than their skin tone

7. "Spider lashes" - either when the natural lashes are clumped together, or when mascara is applied to very long fake lashes and they end up clumping together =(

8. Orange face + white neck - don't even get me started on this one =|

9. Dark lip liner + lighter lipstick - ew!

10. "Clown face" - Bright eyeshadow + bright lip colour + obvious blush =(

So, there are my top 10 pet peeves with make up. What are yours? Let's make this a tag - I tag anyone who reads this and wants to do it =)

Make  a blog post with your make up pet peeves and post a link in the comments - I'd love to know what annoys you =)

    I'm Scrapping the Schedule....

I think I'm going to scrap the schedule for this blog... partly because it's harder for me to keep up with it now that I'm back at school, and I need to use more of my time to do my homework and such. I'll still do reviews and stuff but without the schedule because I feel it's putting extra pressure on me (wow that sounded dramatic xD).

I'm going to keep the "My Friday Favourite" posts because I really enjoy doing those, and also because it lets people know a bit more about me. =)

Poundland Make Up Review - Saturday's Hot or Not

*I mentioned Poundland's make up range in a previous post, but I hadn't tried any of their products; click here to read the post.*

Okay, so here's my (long overdue) review of Poundland's makeup range, "Chit Chat". =)

Today I visited my local Poundland, and I decided to pick up a few things from their make up range because I'd read about it online, and it looked pretty good. Sadly, my local Poundland didn't have the full range, but the stuff they did have wasn't really what I expected. =(

I only bought one of their 4-colour eyeshadow palettes.

I bought the one which is furthest to the right. I was hoping to get my hands on the one at the very left, but they didn't have it =( They had one in green, but I'm not a big fan of dark green eyeshadow, so I didn't get that one.

Here's a swatch of the colours:

Sorry about the quality of the picture, I used my phone to take it and it's not very good, but the colours are true to what you get from this palette.

#1 is the white one, and it has a box around it because it was so pale that it just didn't so up at all when I swatched it on my arm... same as when you put it on your eyelid... =(

#2 is very pretty, and my favourite from the palette: it's a greyish-blue, but it's also quite pale.

#3 is like a chocolate brown with a hint of purple though it - also quite pretty.

#4 is meant to be black, but looks more a dark grey than anything else.

For numbers 2,3 & 4 - the colours might be better if you put on a few more coats, but overall, the eyeshadows aren't very pigmented at all.

The other interesting thing I found from the Chit Chat range was the "Pump It! Lip Gloss" which I discovered was available in only one colour. It too, wasn't very pigmented.

I saw their foundations, powders and bronzers as well, but I'm not too sure about the quality, so I'd didn't get any of those.... I also found that the foundations only came in "Light", "Medium" and "Dark" and none of them matched my skin tone. =(

Sorry Poundland, but I'm not a big fan of your make up range.

Value for money: ★ (you're only paying a pound... but still)
    Pigmentation:
    Quality:
    Overall rating:

Dolce & Gabbana Perfume - My Friday Favourite

I've not blogged in about a week! I need to write about something... time for my Friday Favourite ;)

I'm currently loving the smell of D&G eau de toilette - especially this set: http://bit.ly/aeQTRV.

Even though they all smell quite similar, my favourite is number 18: La Lune - I'm in love with this scent! <3

I wear it most days, and the scent keeps all day long - it smells as fresh in the evening as it did when I put it on in the morning - perfect! I get a lot of compliments on it and my friends seem to really like it. =D

Olly Murs' new single - Trash or Cash?

X-Factor star, Olly Murs' new single "Please Don't Let Me Go", came out on iTunes just 2 days ago and is already #1 in the UK - well done Olly!

This song has been playing on the radio and on tv a lot, so no surprise, that when it came out on iTunes, everyone wanted to buy it - but will it stay on top for more than a week?

Sadly, I don't think it will. (Sorry Olly) In my opinion, the song isn't particularly catchy - but, it is different. Everything else that's out right now is verging on sort of techno, dance electro type of thing, so I'm glad Olly didn't do the same as everyone else; however, it seems techno sells at the moment... which is why I don't think this song will stay on top for long.

What do you all think of this song? Do you like it / own it?
Click here if you've not heard it. (I don't think it's out in the US yet)

ps. I preferred Olly when he was on the X-Factor as a contestant - the songs he sang had more rhythm and allowed him to show off his dancing skills =) Anyone agree?

Nail Art - Hot or Not

I typed "Nail Art" into Google Images, and here are a few of my favourite designs that came up:

What do you think of nail art? Do you like it? I personally think it looks really pretty, however, I just can't see myself wearing any of these designs, unless it was a special occasion - too much work! lol

If you fancy a challenge, try to re-create one of the above looks or think of your own, and post a link in the comment section. I'd love to see your designs! =)

Maroon 5's new song - My Friday Favourite

If any of you guys are fans of Maroon 5, you may be aware that their new album is coming out on the 21st of September 2010. (yay, I can't wait!! =D) And if you follow them on YouTube, you may have heard "Give a Little More" - a song from their new album, "Hands All Over". I love this song, it's so catchy! =)

    Makeup for £1

In my previous post, i mentioned Superdrug's own cosmetics brand - MUA (Make Up Academy). Click here to see my previous post and here to see the MUA range. MUA seem to have everything except foundation....

...So, if you foundation for £1 - try Poundland! Seriously! I didn't know about this until today... because I don't normally shop at Poundland, but I visited their website today, looking for some good deals on school stuff, and saw that they now sell makeup. Wow!

The brand is called "Chit Chat" and they really do have everything - foundation, powder, bronzer, lipgloss, mascara, nail polish etc. I don't think they have lipstick though, but they have more products than MUA but a smaller variety of colours.

4 shades!! (for a smokey eye look)
    2 shades in each palette!

the lip glosses (they also have lipgloss tubes)

    2 pencils per pack

    2 in 1 mascara

some of the nail polishes look really glittery and
    the others are more matte

I've not tried any of them yet, but I'll try to pick some up this week so I can do a review on them. Click here to see the full range online.
