Olly Murs' new single - Trash or Cash?

X-Factor star, Olly Murs' new single "Please Don't Let Me Go", came out on iTunes just 2 days ago and is already #1 in the UK - well done Olly!

This song has been playing on the radio and on tv a lot, so no surprise, that when it came out on iTunes, everyone wanted to buy it - but will it stay on top for more than a week?

Sadly, I don't think it will. (Sorry Olly) In my opinion, the song isn't particularly catchy - but, it is different. Everything else that's out right now is verging on sort of techno, dance electro type of thing, so I'm glad Olly didn't do the same as everyone else; however, it seems techno sells at the moment... which is why I don't think this song will stay on top for long.

What do you all think of this song? Do you like it / own it?
Click here if you've not heard it. (I don't think it's out in the US yet)

ps. I preferred Olly when he was on the X-Factor as a contestant - the songs he sang had more rhythm and allowed him to show off his dancing skills =) Anyone agree?

Nail Art - Hot or Not

I typed "Nail Art" into Google Images, and here are a few of my favourite designs that came up:

What do you think of nail art? Do you like it? I personally think it looks really pretty, however, I just can't see myself wearing any of these designs, unless it was a special occasion - too much work! lol

If you fancy a challenge, try to re-create one of the above looks or think of your own, and post a link in the comment section. I'd love to see your designs! =)

Maroon 5's new song - My Friday Favourite

If any of you guys are fans of Maroon 5, you may be aware that their new album is coming out on the 21st of September 2010. (yay, I can't wait!! =D) And if you follow them on YouTube, you may have heard "Give a Little More" - a song from their new album, "Hands All Over". I love this song, it's so catchy! =)

Makeup for £1

In my previous post, i mentioned Superdrug's own cosmetics brand - MUA (Make Up Academy). Click here to see my previous post and here to see the MUA range. MUA seem to have everything except foundation....

...So, if you foundation for £1 - try Poundland! Seriously! I didn't know about this until today... because I don't normally shop at Poundland, but I visited their website today, looking for some good deals on school stuff, and saw that they now sell makeup. Wow!

The brand is called "Chit Chat" and they really do have everything - foundation, powder, bronzer, lipgloss, mascara, nail polish etc. I don't think they have lipstick though, but they have more products than MUA but a smaller variety of colours.

4 shades!! (for a smokey eye look)
2 shades in each palette!

the lip glosses (they also have lipgloss tubes)

2 pencils per pack

2 in 1 mascara

some of the nail polishes look really glittery and
the others are more matte

I've not tried any of them yet, but I'll try to pick some up this week so I can do a review on them. Click here to see the full range online.

Back to School Makeup

I noticed a lot of people have done "Back to School" stuff here on Blogger and as well on YouTube, and since I'm going back this week, I thought I'd join in too and share some of the products I use. =)

Moisturizer: I'm currently using Superdrug's Deep Action Shine Control Moisturizer. It is pretty good, and does what it says on the tube. It's priced at £2.49.

Foundation: I'm using NYC Natural Matte Foundation in Ivory (shade 001). I'm really happy with this foundation, and it blends really easily. I was going to post a link, but I can't seem to find the exact one online, but here's a link to the NYC website. I got it from Superdrug for around £2.99, and I think they only sell it in stores.

Powder: I like to use pressed powders, and my favourite at the moment is Rimmel London's Stay Matte Pressed Powder. I use the one called "Pink Blossom" and that is shade 002. It's really pretty and has pinkish undertones so that you don't end up with an orange face if you use too much. I got it from Boots for £3.99.

Eye Shadow: I'm currently using Superdrug's MUA range and I'm loving shade 12 - it looks EXACTLY like Club from M.A.C ...and it only costs £1! (everything in Superdrug's MUA range costs £1)

I don't like to use eyeliners and mascara, so that's why I haven't included any... sorry =(

If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a comment =)

X-Factor (Trash or Cash?)

Since today was the first episode of this year's X-Factor, I thought it would be a good idea to write about it in this week's Trash or Cash. What was your opinion of tonight's show? Did you like it? Did you enjoy the singing ;) I didn't.

This year, we've got 5 guest celebrity judges: Katy Perry, Pixie Lott, Geri Halliwell, Natalie Imbruglia and Nicole Scherzinger. They will be replacing Dannii Minogue, and later a seriously ill Cheryl Cole who collapsed during a photo shoot. =( Poor Cheryl! Hope she gets better soon.

Holly Willoughby has also been replaced this year - by Konnie Huq.

A lot of changes in this year's X-Factor! Glad we still have Simon and Louis as judges and Dermot as presenter =) I'm really glad that Katie Price will not be joining the judges this year - I guess the rumors weren't true after all! No offense Katie, but I just can't picture you being a judge on the X-Factor.

My Friday favourites this week are the t-shirts - the perfect gift for a YouTube + Twitter + Facebook obsessed girl ;)

There was actually a page on Facebook called "YouTubee, twitterr and faceboook merged, will be know as" and I decided to Google and their website came up. I'm not too crazy about the comics on their site, but I LOVE the t-shirts - definitely getting one! =D

Sorry guys.... =(

Sorry guys, I've kinda abandoned my blog recently and I missed my Saturday and Sunday posts. =( I've been really busy this week getting my stuff for school organized and all that jazz, but I promise I'll get back to blogging soon.

P.S. I'm thinking of getting a second YouTube channel for reviews and hauls and such, so I'll keep you posted on that =) xxx

A Really Cool Website - My Friday Favourite

Heyy everyone, omg can you believe it's Friday already?! Wow, time is flying by... the summer is almost over. =(

But moving on... my Friday Favourite this week is a website called "Bypass Fan Pages". Let me explain why I love this website so much.... =) For those of you who have Facebook, you will be quite familiar with fan pages that ask you to "become a fan" (well, now it's "like") before you can see their content; and in most cases it turns out that it's either fake and you don't get to see anything, or you have to fill out a survey. =| I HATE those pages with a passion.... and I think the creator of "Bypass Fan Pages" did too, lol. This website shows you the content without you having to either connect to Facebook or fill out any surveys, or even "become a fan" of anything. All you have to do it go on the website. You can also search for a particular page to see its content.

Facebook page - search for the name of the page (in the box highlighted in red) and click "enter"

Enjoy! =)

Amazing Freeware =)

I'm a big fan of freeware and I love a good bargain. Trouble is, a lot of freeware is rubbish and in a lot of cases doesn't work as well as it says it should.

For a while now, I've been using Comodo freeware and I'm really happy with it. It works great. =) There are lots of products in the Comodo range and some are free (legally) and some you have to pay for.

One freeware product I particularly like is "Comodo Internet Security". It works amazingly well and protects my computer from viruses and spyware. I keep it switched on all day and it works in the background without slowing down my computer.

"Comodo Internet Security" screenshot (i replaced some of the details with dots in the screenshot)
There is only one thing I don't really like about Comodo products and that is, that the scans are slower than most other programs - but they are more thorough which is a good thing.

Check out some of the other products in the Comodo range by clicking here

Mine - Taylor Swift (Trash or Cash)

Taylor Swift's new song, "Mine" came out on Wednesday and like most of Taylor's songs, it made it to the top of the iTunes chart. Congrads Taylor! =)

"Mine" received mixed reviews on iTunes and other websites, with many people saying it sounded just like all her previous songs - and I completely agree. It has the same melody as her other songs, and once again she is singing about boy-girl relationships and love. I really like the song though, and I think it will have the same success as "Love Story", because, let's face it, it's basically the same song!

This song is not yet available on iTunes UK, but it's on YouTube.

Is this song Trash or Cash? - vote in the comment section. =)

Teen Choice Awards 2010 - Get the inside scoop before Monday

This year's Teen Choice Awards are being hosted by the lovely Katy Perry and the guys from Glee. I'm really looking forward to it, partly because when I read the list of nominees I couldn't choose who I wanted to win, so I'm expecting lots of surprises. =D

I'm really happy that Sterling Knight has been nominated this year, except, I expected him to be nominated for a few different awards, but he's only nominated for one and he's up against the Jonas Brothers and Cory Monteith from Glee.

Another award I'm really excited about is the award for best actor in the category of fantasy movies - here we'll have Tayor Lautner (New Moon), Robert Pattinson (New Moon) & Johnny Depp (Alice in Wonderland)! I can't pick my favourite because I loved both movies and the acting in both was great. In terms of plot, I think New Moon was better, but in terms of who had the best special effects; Alice in Wonderland had it for me. =)

Now for the ladies, we have Miranda Cosgrove from iCarly, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato for best comedy actress - best of luck to them, Kaley Cuoco and Lee Michele who are all nominated for the award.

I'm also really looking forward to which movie will win for best Drama and best Horror/Thriller. For best drama, we have Dear John, The Last Song and Remember Me - three movies that created quite a bit of buzz earlier in the year. And now for my favourite category in terms of films - the best horror/thriller!! I love horror movies and these are two of the best I have seen this year: Paranormal Activity and The Stepfather - both of course are nominated and I can't wait to see which one will win.

Also good luck to LeBron James (nominated for best male athlete) and Misty May Treanor - nominated for best female athlete - she also made a cameo appearance on Wizard's of Waverly Place.

Best of luck to everyone who was nominated! Listed above are just a few of the nominees; to see the full list, click here.

To visit the Teen Choice Awards website, click here.

If you want some of the inside scoop before Monday, check out Michael Buckley's youtube video where he tells you what websites to visit so you can watch live tomorrow, Sunday 8th of August, (you will not however see the actual award ceremony, just the stars as they arrive.) He will also be doing some interviews with Selena Gomez, Zac Effron and others, so tweet him @BuckHollywood if you have any questions for any of the celebs and he will ask them.

Emma Watson's New Haircut - Hot or Not

Something everyone's been talking about this week - Emma Watson's New Haircut! As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to put it in this week's Hot or Not.

I can't believe she cut it off! She had gorgeous hair. This is what it looked like before she had it cut:

...and this is what it looks like now:

Personally, I prefer her longer hair... but it's her choice and it seems she's wanted to do this for a while. On her facebook page, she said:

Dear all. Cut my hair off a few days ago... Feels incredible. I love it. I've wanted to do this for years and years; it's the most liberating thing ever. Hope you like. Big love from Emma x

She says it was the "most liberating thing ever" - I don't get it; did she feel "trapped" when she had long hair? Maybe this is just her way of saying she's done being Hermione and wants people to see her for who she is. This is a slightly more grown-up look for her and it kinda reminds me of Jamie Lee Curtis' hair from Freaky Friday (Tess Coleman). Let me know what you think of it in the comments section - is this look hot or not?

ps. To all the Harry Potter fans, don't worry, they've finished filming, so we won't be seeing Hermione Granger with a pixie cut ;) - although, that would be interesting....

The pictures used are from Emma Watson's Facebook page.

Inception - My "Friday Favourite"

My Friday Favourite this week is the movie "Inception". I went to see it with my friend on Wednesday and I absolutely LOVED it! It is my new all-time-favourite movie and I might even be going to see it again. =)

I'm sure a lot of you have seen it or at least heard of it, and if you use Twitter, you may have noticed it's been trending for a few weeks now. If you have no idea what I'm on about, you can read about the movie on IMDb and you can also check out the official movie site.

I'm not going to post any spoilers because I don't want to ruin it for anyone who is yet to see it, but I might do a review in the coming weeks.

Thursday, 5 August 2010

I'm thinking of doing a schedule for this blog:

  • Monday - Thursday = normal movie/book reviews and gossip and such (maybe not everyday)
  • Friday = My Friday Favourite --> basically what this is, is just something that I've found/discovered/seen etc., during the week and have really liked it (it could be absolutely anything)
  • Saturday = Hot or Not --> fashion news and make-up reviews
  • Sunday = Trash or Cash --> music reviews

Both "Hot or Not" and "Trash or Cash" are polls - vote in the comment section =)

Hope I can keep it up because it sounds pretty good ;)

My first entry

Heyy everyone, I'm new to this and this is my first blog entry. First impressions of this site it that it's rather rubbish and doesn't work properly. I'm not happy with Blogger at all and I think Tumblr is much more user-friendly, however, Tumblr blogs are harder to find on the internet. Hopefully I will get the hang of this soon and start posting my reviews of movies, music and make-up as I had originally planned. =)

wish me luck :L
